Please come forward and extend your helping hand

Friends we need to support family to Dr Chandrakant Patil.

We are planning to collect funds and then we will send DD/check to Father of Dr Chandrakant Patil.

We were shocked to read following news item in HT, mumabi edition.
---------------------------
HT, Mumbai edition, page 6.
----------------------------

CALL IT a travesty of sorts — the Calamity Relief Fund (CRF) accounts for providing immediate relief to victims of pest attack and cloudburst, but not lightning! For this very reason, the Bihar government has nothing but condolences to offer to the bereaved family of Dr Chandrakant Patil, a postgraduate student of King Edward Medical College, Mumbai, who was killed by lightning near Supaul on Sunday .

Dr Patil, who reached here on September 18, had fought with his seniors to allow him to work as a volunteer in the flood-hit districts of Bihar and was doing yeoman’s service at filmmaker Prakash Jha’s Kataiya relief camp in Supaul till death snatched him away .

While condolence messages, including that of State Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, kept pouring in to Hindustan Times office, the Bihar government on Tuesday said there was no provision either in the CRF or the National Calamity Contingency Fund (NCCF) to pay compensation to the families of those killed by lightning.

Citing the relevant clause under the CRF, Additional Commissioner, Disaster Management Department, Pratyaya Amrit said, “The CRF shall be used only for meeting the expenditure for providing immediate relief to the victims of cyclone, drought, earthquake, fire, flood, tsunami, hailstorm, landslide, avalanche, cloudburst and pest attack.” ruchirkumar@hindustantimes.com

If the above news is valid ( we still cannot believe this lame excuse by Gov of Bihar) then this is really shocking. We are sure that Bihar Gov will look into this matter and do something for the family to Dr Chandrakant Patil. We Biharis will not digest such lame excues made by officials from Patna.

This is another of those anti Bihar articles from the so called "national" press.

Fact is, when there were certain procedural difficulties to utilize the govt fund to provide relief to the family of Dr Patil, Sushil Modi, the dy CM of Bihar, arranged Rs 10 lakhs from the Bihar unit of BJP. He personally handed over the money to the colleagues of Dr Patil at Mumbai.

Anyhow, we should come forward and provide different types of help to the family of Dr Patil including money contribution. It is his supreme sacrifice and we as a society have to come forward to take care of his beloved ones.
