The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday announced its decision to give Rs. 10 lakh to the family of Dr. Chandrakant of Maharashtra who, in a tragic incident, died after being hit by lightening while trying to provide medical care to flood victims in North Bihar a few days ago.

"Dr. Patil was the only son of Umakant Patil. While we cannot bring back his son, it is our duty to ensure his family is well taken care of and for that we have decided to give Rs. 10 lakh to the victim's family," Modi said.

The BJP leader also talked with Umakant Patil on the phone and expressed his condolence over his son's sudden and tragic death.
